Visit the Friends of the Library's Book Shop at the Main Library or Book Shop Annex at the Branch to raise money for the library. You may also donate books, records, cassettes, CDs, DVDs and current-year magazines to the shop.

Edna Sahm will be the featured author for the Friends of the Escondido Public Library author event. The event will be held at 7:00 PM September 11, 2008 in the Turrentine Room at the Escondido Public Library. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Books will be available for signing and sales. Reservations are not required. Early arrival is encouraged to ensure seating.
A huge Sidewalk Book Sale will be in held in front of the library on September 5th, 10:00 - 6:00pm. and September 6th from 10:00 to 6:00 pm. The sale will feature a wide assortment of popular fiction and non-fiction books in hardcover and paperback. All books will be half price! Other items for sale include magazines, movies in video and DVD formats and a wide assortment of music CDs. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library directly support the library’s programs and services for children, teens and adults.
Every first Monday of the month books with 2 colored dots are sold at half price. Find any book with 2 colored dots on the spine and only pay half the marked price.
Open longer hours! Every first Thursday of the month in conjunction with the First Thursday Concerts, the Friends Book Shop will be open until 9 pm.
Do to the great donations we have received, the Book Shop is doing very well. We couldn't do it without our hard working volunteers who are in the Book Shop everyday and the volunteers upstairs sorting and pricing the books.
The Book Shop has a great "new" look. If you have not visited for awhile, come and see our book shelves instead of carts sitting around. Click on the "page corners" of the book below to see photographs.
On November 16, 2007 a THANK YOU luncheon was held for the dedicated Book Shop volunteers. Marge Kelley shared news and held a question and answer session. Good food was enjoyed, thank you to Major Market for donating two tray of delicious sandwiches.

The Friends of the Escondido Library is a non-profit organization of library lovers, who, over the past 20 years, have made possible significant library improvements through their efforts. The paid membership count is 250+. Members receive a quarterly newsletter with information about the Escondido Public Library from library staff and the Friends Book Shop volunteers.
Membership
Annual membership for the Friends of the Escondido Public Library is
$5.00 for an individual, $7.00 for a family, $15.00 for a business, and
$25.00 for supporting membership. Life membership is a one-time donation
of $100.00 or more.
Membership Social on September 27, 2007 - Guest Speaker: Irv Erdos
Speaker and humorist Irv Erdos was enjoyed by all that attended the social. Erdos taught the audience how to speak New York "brooklynaise" and was rewarded with a hand crafted "book" book shelf. You can see a similar shelf in the Friends Book Shop. Refreshments were served. Don't miss the membership social in September 2008.
