The Friends of the Pioneer Room is a non-profit organization that supports the Escondido Public Library's local history collection through organized fundraising projects such as the sale of the Pioneer Room Calendar each year. Other recent projects include:
- The purchase of a microreader for the Pioneer Room.
- Funding for an oral history tape.
- Providing funds to hire a student to upgrade the Pioneer Room webpage.
- Authorizing the transfer of a Rube Nelson video interview to current technology.
- The purchase of the 1880 census CD.
Support the Friends by becoming a member or donating your personal photographs of Escondido local history. Desirable photographs would include shots of fashion, surroundings, and buildings of different eras.
Meetings
The Pioneer Room Friends meet the third Thursday of every month at 3:30
p.m. in the
Board Room at the Main Library. New members are always welcome.
