Class Visits to the Library
Teachers are invited to bring their classes to the library for a tour to learn about library resources and get library cards. Younger students can also enjoy a storytime.
Scheduling
Call the library department you wish you visit (see Department
Contact Information at the left) to schedule at least three weeks in
advance.
Library Cards for Students
One of the library's goals is to make sure every student in the
community has a library card. When planning a visit to the library
with your class, please be sure to pick up a Teacher Packet at the
Customer Service desk at least two weeks in advance. Bring
completed library card applications along with your class roster to the
Customer Service desk at least five days before the visit so staff will
have cards ready for the students at the time of their visit.
Librarian visits to your classroom
As part of our goal to encourage young
readers and expand the horizons of children and teens, librarians are
available to visit your classroom. We offer books talks,
storytelling, and custom presentations on topics of your choice.
We are also available to speak with teachers at department meetings and
PTO/PTA meetings about library resources, programs, and services.
See Department Contact Information at the left to schedule a visit.
Teacher Cards for Media Loans
Teachers may borrow media items (videos, DVDs, CD-Roms, CDs, books on tape/CD) for use in their classrooms without paying the standard check-out fees if they apply for our special Escondido Public Library Teacher Card. Items are subject to normal fines. Cards will expire one year from the date of issue.
Teachers must provide home and school address and phone number information on their application. In addition, identification and proof of employment is required.
To apply, fill in the Teacher Card Application and bring to the Customer Service desk at the Main Library or East Valley Branch.
