From July 1 - July 31, Escondido Public Library will be accepting food donations in lieu of library overdue fines.  Proceeds will benefit Interfaith Community Services in Escondido.  Food will be accepted at both Main and Branch locations. The "payment system" works as follows:

• Expensive items (canned hams, powdered infant formula, diapers, etc.)
  These items count for up to $5.00 worth of fines.
   
• Nonperishable items (canned vegetables, tuna fish, dried pasta, etc.)
  These items will count for up to $1.00 worth of fines.
   
• Items may be used to clear fines only - not for lost or damaged books, replacement cards or City Attorney Fees.
   
• Non-nutritious items, damaged containers, and foods which have passed their expiration dates will not be accepted.
   
• LIMIT:  $10.00 in fines per card.
