21. Grand Avenue: The center of the city of Escondido grew up on the corner of Grand Avenue and Lime Street (Broadway) where Chinese workers constructed the first brick buildings. Escondido’s first bank, post office, and general store lined this street. Over the past 125 years,
many businesses have come and gone. Most photographs of the
changing and growing city were taken during the Grape Day
Parade along Grand Avenue.
