35. Lake Wohlford: Escondido developed a water supply in 1895 by damming Bear Valley Creek. By 1900, the area became a popular recreational spot, and the Lake was renamed Escondido Reservoir. In 1924, the Escondido Mutual Water Company officially christened the Lake Wohlford, a tribute to A.W. Wohlford for his dedicated service to the community.
