Nora Ephron

Nora Ephron is one of those gifted authors/humorists who knows how to write across the spectrum of human emotions. She had her fans crying as they read Heartburn (1983) and laughing when they watched "When Harry Met Sally" (1989). She was the successful director behind the film "You've Got Mail" and wrote the screenplays for "Silkwood" (1983) and "Sleepless in Seattle" (1993).

I feel bad about my neck Book CoverMore recently, Ephron came out swinging with her engagingly funny book I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman (2006). In an honest tone mixed with both humor and gentle sarcasm Ephron takes on the subject of what life is really like after passing the milestone of age 60. Rather than offer platitudes about the wisdom of aging, her essays capture her unique perspective on women and careers and all the maintenance that keeps the grey hairs and wrinkles at bay.

Ephron was born in New York City in 1941 to Henry and Phoebe Ephron who were both also successful screenwriters. She has been married three times and has two sons with her current husband, the writer, Nicolas Pileggi. She has co-authored several screenplays with her sister Delia Ephron.
